Drupal – Engage

Drupal is an open source content management platform powering millions of websites and applications.

For Drupal 7:

  1. Download the module’s tarball, extract its contents, and move the resulting rpx directory into your site’s sites/all/modules directory.
  2. Sign in to the Drupal administration dashboard, and navigate to Modules. Check the Janrain Engage Core, Janrain Engage UI, and Janrain Engage Widgets modules from the list at the bottom of the page. Note: the Janrain Engage Rules integration module is only needed if you are using the Rules plugin.
  3. Click Save Configuration.
  4. Next, navigate to the People page, and select the Permissions tab. If the default user permission configuration will not work for your site, modify them here and click Save Permissions. If the default is acceptable, proceed to the next step.
  5. If you want users to create their own accounts using Janrain Engage, navigate to Configuration > People > Account Settings and under the Registration and Cancellation section, check the Visitors option under Who can register accounts? Click the Save Configuration button at the bottom of the page.
  6. Next, visit Configuration. Under the People section should be a Janrain Engage entry. Click on the link, and enter your Janrain Engage API key.* This API key must be entered for the module to function properly. Note: see the FAQ if the entry does not appear.
  7. Also, configure other module settings related to the user interface, authentication, social sharing, and verification e-mails as required. Click Save Configuration when done.

You will be able to choose from a Basic (free), Plus, Pro, or Enterprise level account. All account types are supported by this module.

For Drupal 6:

Plugin Download.

  1. Download, and expand the plugin.
  2. Copy the expanded rpx folder. Navigate to drupal/sites/all/modules. If a modules folder doesn’t exist, create it. Paste the rpx folder in the modules folder.
  3. In the Drupal administration panel, navigate to Administer > Site Building > Module.  Check the Janrain Engage CoreJanrain Engage UI, and Janrain Engage Widgets modules from the list at the bottom of the page. Click Save Configuration.
  4. Navigate to Administer > User Management > Janrain Engage. Select the Setup tab, and enter your Janrain Engage API key.*
  5. Configure the rest of the plugin according the the needs of your site.
  6. Click the Save Configuration button.
