Implementation Guide

This documentation is for the User Registration widget solution that uses JavaScript. Deployments installed after 11/1/2012 are likely using this method. If you are unsure, please clarify with your Deployment Engineer.

This is a work in progress. We will continue to update it frequently, so check back often.

Implementing the Capture Widget is a team effort, and involves a client working closely with Janrain Deployment Engineers.

A brief overview of the process:

  1. Janrain sets up a Capture application that you can manage from the Dashboard, and builds the Javascript settings, Flow File, and tags to place in your website. The widget uses your site’s CSS to integrate visually.
  2. The Standard Registration Flow is added to your website.
  3. Changes, if any, are made by Janrain. The new code is delivered and then you test it in a development environment. Note: any changes made to the default flow must be provided to Janrain in a bulleted list.
  4. After testing, you deploy the widget live.

The following are the major steps in coordinating your implementation of the User Registration Widget:

  • Get Credentials — Your implementation process starts in the Deployment Portal. This is where Janrain employees will work directly with your team, and where your unique Capture credentials are kept.
  • Deploy Standard Registration Flow — Use deliverables from Janrain to deploy the Standard Registration Flow on a test site.
  • Get the Code — Place the final widget code generated by Janrain into your production website. This consists of a JavaScript script, and a <div> tag, both added to the designated user sign-in page.
